Dmitrii goes public - Issue #4
Hey everyone!
I missed the Wednesday schedule so here is your Friday issue!
I noticed it's hard to keep up with any plans or schedules during the summer. Something always comes up.
🇳🇱 Stuff I’m doing in The Netherlands
I just came back from the morning run and I feel great. It's hard to force yourself to go out there but it feels fantastic when you do. Also, the runner's high is something I can relate to. After 20-30 minutes of running, I start feeling the elevation and dopamine injection. Absolutely recommend trying morning runs, could be your thing too.
I mentioned my company's team retreat in the last issue. We went to the east part of the country, almost near the German border. The name of the region is Overijssel and the closest big city is Enschede.
The company rented a beautiful old house that was built in 1703. I was actually surprised at the condition of the house. I expected the run-down building but it was well maintained. They had changed a lot but there were many little touches that remind you about the old times.
We have a pretty huge territory around the house. There was a restaurant in the same building but it worked once or twice. Most of the time, we had everything to ourselves.
On the weekdays we played a lot of board, VR, and field games. Now I know the games called Mölkky and Kubb. Both of which like Gorodki we have in post soviet counties.
Also, we visited a city nearby to go to the Escape room. It was actually my first time. Somehow I missed the whole Escape room train.
I enjoyed it quite a lot. The whole room was interactive and many puzzles were intriguing. Also, the story was unexpectedly good. So if you ever will be in Eschede, I recommend going to their escape room.
We also played mini golf. It is a meditative activity and it's perfect to relax in the evening after a big party the day before. Which was our case 🍻
It was an amazing team retreat with some focused work and great leisure. I feel much more connected to my colleagues. It was needed after so many years of working and speaking with everyone only online. Besides, I enjoyed being outdoors. The slow rhythm of life helps you to reset your brain.
💻 Cool purchase
Right now, we buy a lot of stuff for the house and all kinds of electronics. So I'm adding a new section with cool purchases of the week. It'll stop at some point (otherwise we'll go bankrupt) but for now, I have some amazing stuff to share.
One of my favorite electronics so far was our TV - LG C1. There are different sizes but we picked 65" which is perfect for our distance from the couch.
This TV is an absolute beast if you're a gamer. It's designed for gaming, it even has picture settings for the different genres. It supports 4K resolution, HDR, 120Hz, 2.3 ms response time, VRR, and many more cool features. It's one of the best TV for video games on the market right now and it's worth it. In combination with PS5, it's so good. The picture is always stunning.
💰 Finance and FIRE
I already mentioned in the previous issue my plan to reach FIRE by 40. One thing I want to add. I don't understand the FIRE concept or how it was originally presented. The idea was you stop working when you reach your goal number and it's strange. What would you do if you don't have some kind of work?
Some may say you spend all the time with your hobbies. But isn't hobby become work at some point and almost everything is monetizable? Isn't money the perfect validation of your work?
My personal FIRE goal is that I don't have to be an employee of a company if I don't want to. I'll continue working on my projects, YouTube, and new things I'd love to try in life. And I'm hoping to make money on it. That's why I don't worry much about the numbers and arguments about 4% or 3% safety rates.
🎁 Content I’m consuming

A bit unrelated to content but my PS5 started acting weird. I was never lucky with Sony gaming consoles. There was always something wrong with each console I owned. This PS5 is not an exception.
It is now randomly turning off from the rest mode. I'm thinking about sending it back for replacement. But want to try all possible fixes at first - changing cables, ports, settings.
Apart from that, we finished the last season of This is Us which in my personal opinion was boring as hell. The TV show is constantly trying to make you cry with cheesy scenes. Everything is repetitive and you have already seen it hundreds of times. It was a great series at first but they should have ended it a few seasons ago. Thankfully, it was a finale.
That's it for this week. Hopefully, you enjoyed the issue. As usual, you can ask me anything by hitting a reply and sharing this newsletter on social media!
This weekend we're going to the biggest game conference in the world in Köln. I'll be back next week with the report! See ya!
