Practice over theory
and my thoughts on Barcelona.
Hey friends!
I have been thinking a lot about learning and practice recently, so I combined my reflection in this small article:
Practice over theory
Also, I just finished another one of my “living somewhere for a month” type of trips in Barcelona. I had an incredible stay, and I really enjoyed it.
But it also made me rethink living in big cities. I enjoy the energy, but only to a point. After some time, I start craving silence and the fewer people around. It was a very good learning experience, and certainly will influence my near-future plans.
I created a short video to share my thoughts on Barcelona (as part of my Monday Coffee series).
I also published a long-form video about Madrid.
I’ve recently been enjoying slow-paced observational vlogs, without a lot of action and faces. That’s what I tried to recreate in Madrid video.
The main goal was to capture the atmosphere of the city. You’ll be the judge of whether I managed to do that.
I am currently in the south of France. In a small coastal town called La Grande-Motte, not far from Montpellier.
This city is super calm and relaxing, a perfect change for me. It is also architecturally interesting and a bit weird. Since the whole city was built in the French modernist style of the 60s and 70s.
I’m going to try to film something here.
Week’s recommendations
Movies:
The Secret Agent: An interesting story set in 1970s Brazil.
Mistress America: A good, light movie that introduced me to the world of Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig to me. Greta’s acting is so much fun.
Marty Supreme: Very cool, but also very American. Not sure if it’s good or bad.
Books:
Just finished the fourth book in The Stormlight Archive series, Rhythm of War, and immediately started the fifth. Such an incredible world created by Brandon Sanderson.
Have a great week!
